Gweneth L. Apuli (born June 19, 2003) better known as Gwen, is a Filipino artist and performer. She is the fourth eldest member, lead vocal & lead rapper of the Filipino girl group BINI.[1]


She entered as a trainee on Star Hunt Academy in 2019.[2]

Gwen's birth name is Gweneth Apuli. Her Father died when she was four years old, and her mother and her 4 brothers currently live in Daraga, Albay, where she was also born and raised.[3]

Life and Career[]

2003-2018: Early Life[]

Gwen started to sing when she was 3 years old, continuing as she grew older. She had a clear and distinct voice, and her parents enrolled her in voice workshops to improve her skills in singing. She became used to performing in various events, which helped her gain more confidence in singing. She also has a background in modelling, though she had a minimal experience in dancing.[3]

In 2018, she auditioned in Star Hunt Auditions held in Legaspi, Albay. She originally auditioned to be casted on ABS-CBN's reality program Pinoy Big Brother, where she became an official housemate.[5]

2019-2020: Star Hunt Academy Trainee[]

After her time as a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother, Gwen was scouted to become a trainee in Star Hunt Academy. At first, she was doubtful of pursuing this path, but after few weeks she decided to become a trainee.[6] She entered SHA before their official launch in mid 2019. Under SHA, she further developed her skills in singing and enhanced her dancing skills under Filipino voice coaches Kitchy Molina and Anna Graham, and dance coaches Mickey Perz and Matthew Almodovar. She also underwent the intensive Korean training system with the help of MU Doctor Academy where she learned the Korean practice and discipline in singing and dancing.[7]

Gwen joined her fellow trainees in performing on various ABS-CBN mall shows and other events around the country. She also appeared in a 2019 National Youth Commission event FITFIL: Youth Against Drug, where she was proclaimed as one of Youth Ambassadors. They were also invited to perform at the 2019 Manila Southeast Asian Games thanksgiving celebration.[7]

She continued her training even during Extended Community Quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was locked in along with her co-trainees inside Camp Star Hunt to ensure their safety against the virus.[7]

On October 10, 2020, Gwen became one the last 8 members of Star Hunt Academy Girl Trainees to graduate from the Academy and was announced to officially become part of an idol group.[8]

2020-2021: Pre-debut as BINI and Official Debut[]

On November 2020, Gwen officially became a member of ABS-CBN Entertainment's girl group BINI, which released the pre-debut single "Da Coconut Nut".[9]

On December 4, 2020, Gwen and her co-members in BINI signed an exclusive contract under ABS-CBN Entertainment and Star Magic Philippines, ABS-CBN's talent agency.[10]

In their pre-debut era, she and her fellow BINI members performed their pre-debut single Da Coconut Nut and other song and dance covers in various ABS-CBN Entertainment shows like It's Showtime, ASAP Natin 'To, and Magandang Buhay.[11]

Their group officially debuted on June 11, 2021, with the release of their debut single Born To Win in two-part event BINI: The Launch.[12]
